The project began when the founders moved with their family from Bucharest to the countryside, in Pătârlagele, on the Buzău Valley, where they started raising bees and reconnecting with a slower, more balanced way of living.

Inspired by personal experiences and a close connection to mead culture discovered abroad, Miedăria naturally evolved into a small-scale meadery. Mead felt like the perfect expression of their values, allowing them to remain connected to beekeeping, environmental care, and authentic craftsmanship while creating a product deeply rooted in history.

Mead is the oldest known alcoholic beverage in the world, predating agriculture itself. Made by fermenting honey with water and yeast, it was once considered the drink of the gods in ancient cultures and was widely consumed in the region of today’s Romania, where the Dacians were known as skilled beekeepers. Since 2021, Miedăria produces mead near the UNESCO-listed Buzău Land Geopark, using high-quality polyfloral honey sourced from local beekeepers with generations of experience.

Miedăria’s mead is light, low in alcohol, naturally sparkling, and demisweet, with a fresh and playful character. It is designed to be energizing, social, and approachable — ideal for gatherings, dancing, and moments of joy. The base polyfloral honey provides delicate floral notes, allowing infused ingredients to express themselves clearly and naturally.

The product range includes distinct mead expressions, each with its own personality:

Regina – infused with hops, offering subtle elderflower-like notes

Grădinarul – infused with basil and tarragon, delivering herbal freshness

Trântorul – infused with sour cherries, adding a bold and slightly spicy dimension

All flavors develop naturally during fermentation, without artificial additives, preserving the authenticity of honey and the complexity of natural ingredients.

Beyond the product itself, Miedăria represents a strong environmental commitment. Honey production has a very low ecological footprint, requiring no deforestation, irrigation, or herbicides.
